Creating and Producing Your Own Custom Gothic Jewelry
There are generally two approaches to have your individual piece of make-to-order gothic jewelry made if you want to create one and the first way is to go to a jeweler that creates individual ornaments and have them create it to your terms. The other approach to have it created is to make or sculpt it yourself in wax and then have a jeweler form it in gold or silver for you.
Molding is principally how gothic jewelry is produced, although there is some rounding-up work that has to be done after it is formed, the rudimentary form of the gothic jewelry product is decided in wax. It has been established as the "lost wax way" which has been in use for thousands of years. The design is first made in wax by means of sculpting or dental wax. We cannot use Plain paraffin wax won't make it because it is too hard and unbending and bees wax is too supple. Moreover, using Paraffin wax would cause unbending looking shape, chipped edges and a spoiled blade while Beeswax would disintegrate before the jeweler can commence work.
The wax ring or bracelet is subsequently given to the jeweler who then encases the wax form in plaster. After the plaster that encloses the wax ring or bracelet has solidified and dried it is placed in a hot kiln so the wax mold inside of it can melt and burn out. After everything has been completed, you will find a mass of plaster that has the hollow shape of the ring or bracelet in it where the original wax was.
Gothic jewelry craftsmen use a centrifugal caster that spins around as the soften gold or silver is forced in to the void place in the chunk of plaster by the centrifugal force. Finally After the gold or silver inside of the chunk of plaster has been allowed to cool the plaster is damaged to reveal the jewelry piece where the wax ring or bracelet once was.
