Heavy Magic (by Will Cascio)

Who is Will Cascio, and what is Heavy Magic?

Based in Austin, Texas Will Cascio is one of the most gifted designers and craftsmen of sterling silver biker jewelry the world has ever seen. Since 1994, Will Cascio’s phenomally successful Heavy Magic brand has been churning out some of the sterling silver industry’s most intricate and enchanting sterling silver gothic jewelry (or biker jewelry) designs.

Will Cascio’s passion and dedication to the craft is legendary even amongst his gifted peers, and he has been known to isolate himself in his workshop for over seventeen straight hours while obsessively poring over and crafting some of his best pieces of sterling silver artwork. And the fruits of Will Cascio’s labour manifests illustriously in the beautiful, intricate and seemingly flawless pieces of sterling silver biker jewelry Heavy Magic produces. But his jewelry has flaws; flaws which Will Cascio is proud of, since Will Cascio believes that flaws are organic to people and jewelry alike. To Will Cascio, flawless jewelry doesn’t exist, and even if it does, it wouldn’t be good to wear, for want of compatibility with its human owner.

The Rough Old World mood and look of Heavy Magic’s sterling silver jewelry is the trademark of Will Cascio’s designs. A piece of Heavy Magic sterling silver jewelry in your hands, makes you feel as though you’re holding a priceless ancient gothic artifact crafted by pagan silversmiths of rustic old forgotten dynasties long passed.

Will Cascio’s history and pre-Heavy Magic Pursuits

Before Will Cascio became a sterling silver jewelry craftsman, he pursued a huge variety of many other earlier careers. He spent nine long years as a rodeo cowboy, four as a Professional Jockey and finally, eight as a successful Graphics designer. His Graphic Art has been published in premiere magazines including: EFX ART & DESIGN, CHURN art magazine, Magical Blend, Lapis and RELIX. Will's former Graphic design works grace the covers of two music CD releases, tour package designs, and also on Tower Record’s advertisements for Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann's band Trichromes. Will Cascio has also served on and off for 22 years as an Actor/Stuntman with films like Back to the Future II & Back to the Future III. He stunt doubled for Michael J Fox, and in Ninja Turtles III, he served as Raphael’s Stunt Turtle!

The sparks of inspiration required to design biker jewelry can only be triggered when one walks the talk and actually lives the life of a rugged biker, and as part of the biker culture. Like all top designers of badass sterling silver biker jewelry, Will Cascio walked the talk, and gained his inspiration for biker jewelry from living the rugged, odd-job, bohemian and unpredictable life of the paradigm biker whose lifestyle accommodates only activities which sustain his interest. Will Cascio doesn’t work for money; he works for fun, and the money naturally comes in. How many of us out there could be so lucky!

Self-taught and accomplished in many art forms including leather craftsmanship, wax carving, bronze sculpting, acrylic hand painting and airbrush on canvas and of course, sterling silver jewelry. His current artist love is leather work, sterling silver and digital art.
