Justin Davis Jewelry and its elusive founder

The elusive Justin Davis?

Little information could be gleaned about this elusive, mysterious, but hugely successful jewelry designer who hailed from the USA, but made his mark in Japan. Nevertheless, we’ll try our best to demystify the elusive Justin Davis.

A graduate of New York High School of Art & Design and Parsons School of Design, Justin Davis has been in the design business for over 30 years now. Before venturing into gothic jewelry design, Justin Davis operated a fashion boutique in New York City's Upper West Side, and later, produced his own clothing lines. He belongs to the second generation of gothic jewelry designers which entered the industry after Gaboratory, Chrome Hearts, Bill Wall Leather and SoulFetish.

External influences and inspiration: Like many designers, Justin Davis’s experience in 1970s Los Angeles ultimately inspired him to design jewelry and accessories in the Rock and Roll style. Justin Davis’s connections with several Hollywood personalities inspired him to create and design a line of “rock and roll” clothing, jewelry and accessories. Justin Davis was also obsessed with royalty, and this is evident in many of his designs, which heavily feature crowns and precious stones commonly found sewn into royal accessories and clothes. In addition, Justin Davis was inspired largely by his extensive travels, where he paid homage to the various museums, art and historic landmarks in Milan, Paris and other cultural capitals throughout the western world.

Justin Davis jewels launched in spring 2001. Today, Justin Davis gothic jewelry can be found in Justin Davis boutiques in Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the very same markets which Gaboratory, Chrome Hearts, Bill Wall Leather, Room 101, Nagual & SoulFetish have chosen to operate in. Justin Davis gothic jewelry is often associated with themes of crowns, stars & most exceptionally, skulls.

The Justin Davis line of gothic jewelry includes many unique and elegant designs made from 925 Sterling Silver, 18K yellow gold, as well as 18K white gold. His 925 sterling silver jewelry and accessories has gained popularity in recent years, with the meteoric rise in the popularity of gothic punk and biker jewelry. Davis's gothic jewelry is often worn by a niche market of motorcycle fans, in particular Harley Davison fans who are often spotted with thick Sterling Silver chains, heavy necklaces and black leather jackets. Stores carrying his gothic jewelry can be found in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. He is relatively unknown in the USA as much of his fame has come from Japan.

At Punksilver, you will find that a large part of what we do revolves around the Chrome Hearts and Justin Davis style. At less than an eighth of the prices you would pay for the brand premium attached to the original.
