Soul Fetish (by Thierry Martino)

A comprehensive writeup about SoulFetish and Thierry Martino

Established in 1999 by French designer Thierry Martino, SoulFetish is a luxury design company producing lifestyle and fashion accessories, décor, fashion clothing and of course, closest to your heart, biker jewelry (also known as gothic jewelry or rock n roll jewelry).

Unlike many specialty biker jewelry designers such as Chrome Hearts, Bill Wall Leather, Room 101, Nagual and, Travis Walker, SoulFetish’s jewelry line does not focus exclusively on Biker jewelry. SoulFetish has pursued several different themes over the years, designing jewelry lines inspired by: Medieval European secret societies, Harley-Davidson®, Californian choppers, Alchemy, Fantasy comics, Martial arts, African music, Surf culture, Tattoos and Gothic architecture. However, the diversity of Thierry Martino’s artistic pursuits does not derogate from the fact that Thierry Martino, in pioneering SoulFetish, has developed some of the finest biker jewelry around. Besides his own SoulFetish label of biker jewelry, Thierry Martino designs jewelry for Harley-Davidson.

Thierry Martino's Inspirations

Correction. Every single piece of Harley Davidson biker jewelry in existence has been created by Thierry Martino. Riding his first 1200 Sportster® in the late 1980's imbued Martino with a deep sense of biker culture. Starting out from fashioning his biker designs on wax, Martino eventually moved into Sterling Silver, which he felt could better capture the timeless nature of gothic motifs. In addition, the sheen from silver jewelry enhances the sharply polished chrome appearance of high powered bikes. As a result of his love affair with biker culture, Thierry Martino SoulFetish jewelry has always been inspired with the spirit of biker culture. In Thierry Martino’s very own words,

“Silver jewelry and Harleys are inseparable. There is no biker in the world without a silver ring”. We at punksilver.com humbly agree with Thierry Martino’s wisdom.

“I've always created my own silver jewels because I wanted them to have the same spirit and quality as my Harley®”

Thierry Martino's pre-SoulFetish past

Thierry Martino’s experience in the jewelry business was cultivated in France, having first spent 5 years from ‘90 to ‘95 with renowned jewelry brand Reminiscence. After leaving Reminiscence, Thierry Martino began developing his own designs and opened 2 of his own jewelry shops. To widen his artistic scope and gain new inspiration, Thierry Martino traveled all over Europe and absorbed all he could of the old world west European cultural environment. In 1994, Thierry Martino furthered honed his skills at France’s “Ecole nationale de bijouterie” in Saumur, where he mastered his craft as a sterling silver jewelry craftsman.

Armed with new skills, a determination to forge a strong business, a firm dedication to a life of design and a passion to see more of the world, Thierry Martino threw caution to the wind and headed to Asia, where he met his wife Angkhanang. Today, inspiring his creations and aiding in the development of the biker jewelry line of products is Thierry Martino’s wife, Angkhanang. With extensive experience in costume designing for a famous TV production house and gifted with imagination and creativity, Angkhanang has given several lines of SoulFetish’s sterling silver biker jewelry a feminine edge to cater to female fans of biker culture. Together, Thierry Martino and Angkhanang represent a dynamic duo that shares the same passions in music, art and fashion.
