Stanley Guess, the mind behind Guess Werks

Stanley Guess, known as Guess Werks in Japan, played a critical role in putting Chrome Hearts on the map for bold and masculine biker jewelry designs during his reign as an executive designer and craftsman at Chrome Hearts. He is well-known for his wood inlaid and skull motif silver jewelry.

Over thirty years ago, at the time the Legendary Gabor Nagy began working on sterling silver gothic jewelry, Stanley Guess was silently pioneering a similar style of high end gothic jewelry for men. Finding a friend in Chrome Hearts founder Richard Stark, Stanley Guess was initially content to work as part of the larger Chrome Hearts cog as one of its most talented designers.

For fourteen years, Stanley Guess was the designer of Chrome Hearts gothic jewelry, including the large, chunky sterling pieces Chrome Hearts is most well known for today. However, as popularity and demand soared, Chrome Hearts began hiring their own silversmiths to take over production. Disillusioned with the mass manufacturing concept which violated his ideals of gothic jewelry crafting, Stanley Guess left Chrome Hearts to forge a name for himself and restore the glory of custom, non-mass manufactured, hand crafted gothic jewelry.

The resourceful Stanley Guess collaborated with a customer to market his high end sterling silver jewelry in Japan, forming a partnership known as Guess Werks. Guess Werks successfully pioneered and marketed the Stanley Guess Label to thousands of Japanese fans along the pacific rim willing to pay a fortune for Stanley Guess’s sterling silver gothic jewelry works of art.
